The 2010
Scholarship
Scheme |
| We are pleased to announce
that the 2010 Scholarship has been awarded to
Michael Pickin |
| IMPORTANT NOTICE |
| This year’s scholarship will
(as originally planned) be the last awarded
under the current selection process. In future
years (not necessarily every year) the BAeF
selection panel will, after due consideration,
invite pilots directly onto the scheme. Such
pilots, whose minimum age shall be 18 years,
will have already shown great commitment to
sport aerobatics, and will have demonstrated
outstanding progress in their competitive flying
to date. |

|
 |
|
| The Foundation, inaugurated
in September 2005, was set up for the sole purpose of raising
funds in order to award grants in support of the aerobatics
training scholarship scheme being run by the BAeF, and to
provide some financial support for members of the British
Unlimited Team in their preparation for and participation in
European and World aerobatic championships. |
 |
| The BAeF has one clear vision
– to see a British pilot amongst the top three individual medal
winners at European or World Championships from the year 2010.
Our view is that this is unlikely to happen by chance and
therefore needs an appropriate level of structure to provide
that vital encouragement and support. |
 |
| To stand a chance of bringing
this aim to fruition we must help in supporting those pilots who
are already emerging as world-class contenders. But, in
addition, we also to have to keep an eye on the next generation
of pilots, and particularly those who are showing outstanding
commitment and skill in their competitive flying thus far, and
then help to facilitate intensive and well structured aerobatic
flying training programmes for them, under the expert guidance
of the UK’s top aerobatic instructors, augmented by visiting
European and World masters at organised training camps. |
